Lately I have been incredibly busy--leaving very little time for photography. With that said however, I was able to get a couple weekends off work to escape to the beach. Today I have added two new images to my collection: one titled January 25th, and the other entitled The Afterworld . The following is a couple descriptions about getting the images...
January 25th was my mother's birthday. I was unable to be with her to celebrate, so I decided to go to the beach to try and bring back an image for her as a gift. Amazingly, the time of sunset and low-tide matched up perfectly. The stormy sunset was incredible to watch, and the exposed rocks made the scene extra special. I just received the 10x15 inch print that I ordered from my friend Scott Bacon, and it looks amazing!
The second image the I have added is titled The Afterworld. While I was photographing the sunset, I noticed the great reflective qualities that the wet rocks had. I did my best to keep my shoes dry, but I was soon hit by an unsuspecting wave, and consequently drenched from the knee down. As it turned out, wet socks were actually a blessing in disguise. Because I was no longer afraid of getting wet, I allowed myself to walk out into the water and compose a much more dynamic composition. During the sunset hour, light can serve as a very symbolic and powerful energy. As the sun went down, brilliant hues of orange and purple emerged. The glistening rocks and marvelous colors of sunset captured the spiritual and ethereal qualities that I experienced. This beach is quickly becoming one of my favorite spots, and I will definitely be returning as soon as I get another Saturday off work! |
